NY Forms Collaborations with Israeli Firms to Develop Drone Industry Facility of Excellence

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo a few days ago visited Israel – and came back having made partnerships and contracts that can support the state in growing new industries, including drones.  New York’s Empire State Development, the state’s financial development company, will provide a $250,000 planning grant to establish a brand new Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Research and Testing Facility of Excellence.

New York has been one of the most profitable states in attracting the drone sector to the area.  Part of that success has been because of the state’s capability to combine state and local resources to benefit companies. The brand new facility can be led by the NUAIR Alliance, the Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research group.  NUAIR is “an organizational associate of CenterState CEO,” says a NUAIR news release.  “The firms are strategically joined in their efforts to build private and non-private partnerships to advance leading-edge UAS and UAS traffic administration technologies, and create a hub for the sector that will draw investments and business growth.”

CenterState CEO is the company for financial development in the Syracuse or Center State space: and Genius NY is their enterprise accelerator for the drone business, offering a robust framework of support and alternatives for winners of their annual competition to become a Genius NY group.

All that assistance and collaboration, from the Governor’s office down, has resulted in this new international contract.  One of many cornerstone tenant firms, CivDrone, was a 2019 Genius NY Group: Israeli drone firms Vorpal and drone delivery firm Flytrex have joined hands with CivDrone in committing to operating with NUAIR and the Center of Excellence.
